Bio About Antoinette Odei
I am passionate about giving everyone choice and resources to meet their goals in a current Ghana that has wide economic divisions based on costs and income, starting with a skill training and mentorship. My name is Antoinette Odei born on 16th July 1992 in Greater Accra Region(Achimota), by Mr and Mrs Kwakye odei . Am from the upper Central Region of Ghana (Dunkwa-offin). I have been in the beauty industry for more than a decade now, but went to further a course as a professional cosmetologist and accured a diploma in cosmetology in 2020 ,but before then I had already acquired a certified certificate in skincare production and entrepreneurship programme in packaging, oils, creams, lotions , moisturizing soaps, liquid soap, marketing, powder soap, cleansing agents, onintment , perfumes and yoghurt in 2017.
My area of expertise in both cosmetology and skincare production are : Makeup, Braiding, production of organic bathing soap, body lotion, cream, and Shea butter lipgloss I had the opportunity to work with Boa Nnipa Foundation as a sexual Education Tutor. on 23rd October 2015 and at the same time working as a nursery teacher at Earth Angel School. As a yound lady growing up I have always had the passion to help humanity, so the first time I heard the word philanthropist and it’s meaning during the time I was in basic school, I told myself I want to be a philanthropist when I grow up.
Well,I didn’t really understand the responsibility that comes with it .with no objective as In how to go about it,i then decided to be a nurse as i believe i could be who i want to be in future since i will be able to help the sick and the less privileged in my community , Ghana and the world at large. But the idea of being at one place of work with just a few people coming around was really not the definition of being a philanthropist for me, I wanted to really have impact on a large number of people, those who really need someone who is very creative and innovative to direct their path to make the world a better place for us all. My encounter with Boa Nnipa as a sexual education tutor thought me some lesson and my vision became clearer enough to see with great sense of humor ,and also be a mentor for those who I happen to come in contact with.
My achievement at Boa Nnipa Foundation were 1.creating awareness on family planning and it’s important among adults. 2.Educating their students on teenage pregnancy and the negative impact it will have on the society and there future. 3.Educating students on their sexual rights, puberty and STD’s During my time at Boa Nnipa and my encounter with the students and with the community I realize that, people needed more than the awareness because after educating them on their sexual rights and they don’t have a skill training which they can feed on or a stable job which will serve as a source of income, then that awareness won’t have a massive impact on their lives..After sometime Boa Nnipa Ghana stop it operation In Ghana which actually forced realize the importance of a stable career.
I took a bold decision to work on my own,so I started my skincare production which I concentrated on bathing soap, body lotion, body cream and lipgloss with the name being Asaase Yaa products. And I must say it really doing very well now. During that time I started training the less privileged at church and community mostly kokrobitey on soap making and hair making.
Since it more of a passion to me, It so feel for filling when am able to have a positive impact on other’s After two years I decided to formally register my activities under the laws of Ghana, in 2017 as Realize your dreams foundation. The foundation have help a lot of People in my community in various skills training at churches and communities on soap making and hair braiding. And have given a lot of people the opportunity to live the best life could offer them with the hope and determination believing that all things work for those who work towards it.
later on I came up with initiative which will target people at rehabilitation center’s and our inmates prisoners, but much attention will be given to those nearing the completion of their sentence. Realize Your dreams foundation was the first to introduce a free skill cosmetology programme at the chosen rehabilitation cente(FREE) which has encouraged the leader to add other skill training like catering mention but few, And also the first to introduce a skill training progamme in the field of cosmetology for both male and female inmate at nsawam prison and James camp prison in Ghana, which is still an ongoing program, not to say there are no skill training programme in our prison’s ,but the first skill training in make-up , facial, massage, nail extensions, manicure and pedicure.
The foundation also offers training for rehabilitation centres and public schools (JHS, SHS).
